How To Stop WhatsApp From Automatically Saving Media Files

How to Disable WhatsApp’s Automatic Media Downloads

1. Open WhatsApp Settings: To begin, launch the WhatsApp app and press the three dots (⋮) in the upper right corner. After that, choose Settings.

2. Choose the “Storage and Data”: Click on the Storage and Data option that appears now.

3. Navigate to the “Media auto-download”: Three alternatives are displayed here. –

  1. While using mobile data
  2. When connected to Wi-Fi
  3. While roaming

4. Prevent media from being saved in the gallery: To prevent WhatsApp media files from being stored in your gallery, take the actions listed below:

  1. Navigate to Settings.
  2. Press the Chat button.
  3. Turn off the “Media Visibility” option, which is located here.
  4. Your gallery will no longer automatically save any images or videos.

5. Turn off automatic download for a specific chat: If you wish to disable this option for a particular chat alone, then –

  1. Launch that group or chat.
  2. Press the name of the chat (contact or group information).
  3. Select the option for Media Visibility.
  4. After choosing “No,” click “OK.”
